His band, The Magnetic Fields, laid the soundscape for this sibling duo's expression with the album Distortion. Brother Matthew painted the heart and photographed his own hands, scanning in these captures, and emailing the digital images to Sister Laura. She cut out, composed, and collaged the piece according to the collective inspiration, adding the starry hearts and finishing radiance of gold leaf paint.
